Invitation from the Convenor

The Western Australia Branch of PESA extends its invitation for you to attend and participate in the WABS 2013 Conference and Exhibition being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18th-21st August 2013. The Conference will be a “must” for Australian and overseas geoscientists, engineers, managers, researchers and students who are interested in the geoscience and latest industry developments in Australia’s most important petroleum region. The sedimentary basins in this region are currently undergoing unprecedented exploration, production and development activity.

WABS 2013 will deliver a wide program with addresses by technical leaders, technical sessions over three days, an industry exhibition, pre- and post-Conference short courses, pre- and post-Conference field trips and social events. The program will present topical, peer-reviewed technical papers and posters that are expected to provide a new landmark for the understanding of the sedimentary basins of Western Australia. The Conference will build on the knowledge of past WABS conferences and present new material relating to recent exploration and production in the onshore and offshore basins, the latest discoveries and the oil and gas fields in those basins.

Under the theme “Expanding Our Horizons”, the Conference Program includes Technical Sessions focused on each of the main sedimentary basins, namely:
  • North West Shelf
  • Northern Carnarvon Basin
  • Canning Basin
  • Browse Basin
  • Bonaparte Basin
  • Perth Basin
  • Southern Continental Margin
The topics to be covered will interest all explorationists, geoscience specialists, engineers and managers who may be working on this region. These topics include:
  • New oil and gas discoveries
  • Canning Basin Revival
  • The Triassic of the North West Shelf
  • Unconventional Petroleum Resources
  • The latest Regional Geology
  • New Hydrocarbon Plays
  • CO2 Sequestration
  • Reservoir Models
The Conference Committee invites you to browse the program on the conference website and register as a conference delegate. Places on some events will be limited so we urge you to register early.

Sponsorship and Exhibition places are selling fast and the Committee believes that WABS 2013 will be a splendid opportunity for your organisation to receive attention from a large group of upstream petroleum professionals. We encourage interested companies and organisations to secure their participation as early as possible to ensure that the Conference Managers meet all your requirements.
